  Very impressive, trek worth going on.

Beautiful to be out in nature for the trek, and then the lost city itself is pretty cool.

Slept each night in open air bunk beds by indigenous villages, with mosquito nets and a roof to keep out the rain (didn't actually rain during our trek). Electricity available thanks to solar panels, some wi-fi which you have to pay for (but not extortionate).

Regular stores along the hike sell snacks and drinks, at surprisingly reasonable prices considered the isolated location.

Not easily accessible so few tourists go (no road access at all, only a few indigenous villages around, only transport for them is by foot or on mule), very peaceful.

One warning: A couple of us got food poisoning the last night, they suspect it's from the juice they gave us at the camps (maybe water used not perfect), so perhaps stick to bottled drinks. Other than that the food was great.

Also, should know it's not at all an easy trek:
- I did the 4-day version, and found it very hard going, hardest trek I've ever done (by way of comparison, I found it much harder than 4 days trekking in Peruvian Andes at 4000m, or climbing Acatenago volcano in Guatemala).
- Think it was the heat (40° and very high humidity, little shade in first sections of the trek) that did for me, but should note that also had quite a lot of uphill sections.
- But luckily had the option to pay for a mule to carry me for the harder parts, about a day and a half. Not ideal but otherwise I don't think I would have managed, I was already getting heat exhaustion.

  The doubling of the price in January 2024 from roughly 1,100,000 COP to 2,150,000 has turned this from an accessible and worthwhile experience into a tourist trap and cash cow. Disappointing really as this will price lots of people out of doing the trek and may end up costing them revenue in the end. None of the many people I have met who have done it at the price point last year (or lower) have agreed it's worth what they're charging now...

Ciudad Perdida es un antiguo centro ceremonial, político y religioso de la civilización Tayrona, escondida entre las montañas de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Para cualquier amante de la naturaleza que visite Colombia, este destino es imperdible.

Información General:

Ciudad Perdida, también conocida como Teyuna, se encuentra en el Parque Nacional Natural Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, en el departamento de Magdalena, en la región del Caribe colombiano. Descubierta en la década de 1970, esta zona arqueológica ha permitido preservar el invaluable legado histórico, arquitectónico y cultural de la civilización Tayrona, mucho más antigua que Machu Picchu en Perú.

Cómo Llegar a Ciudad Perdida:

Desde ciudades como Santa Marta, Cartagena, Bogotá y Medellín, puedes llegar a Ciudad Perdida. Sin embargo, el acceso es exclusivamente a través de tours organizados, que suelen durar 4 o 5 días, cubriendo alrededor de 60 kilómetros de caminata. Estos tours incluyen traslados, hospedaje, alimentación, permisos de ingreso y guías locales.

Itinerario del Tour:

Day 1: Santa Marta – Camp 1 towards Lost City
La caminata inicia desde Santa Marta, llevándote en vehículo 4×4 hasta El Mamey. Desde allí, se camina alrededor de 8 kilómetros hasta la Cabaña 1, pasando por paisajes impresionantes y disfrutando de la exuberante vegetación de la Sierra Nevada.

Día 2: Campamento 1 – Paraíso Teyuna – 2 kilómetros de Ciudad Perdida
El segundo día implica una caminata de aproximadamente 15.5 kilómetros hasta llegar a Paraíso Teyuna. Este tramo incluye la visita a Casa Wiwa y el pueblo indígena Mutanzi, ofreciéndote una experiencia única de contacto con la cultura local.

Día 3: Paraíso Teyuna – Ciudad Perdida – Cabaña Mumake
El tercer día es el más emocionante, ya que visitarás la legendaria Ciudad Perdida. Después de ascender por los 1,260 escalones que conducen al parque arqueológico, tendrás tiempo para explorar sus estructuras y sumergirte en su historia antes de regresar a Cabaña Mumake.

Día 4: Cabaña 2 – Santa Marta
El último día implica el regreso a Santa Marta, completando unos 16 kilómetros de caminata. Después de disfrutar de un almuerzo de despedida en El Mamey, serás trasladado de regreso a Santa Marta, donde podrás reflexionar sobre la increíble aventura que has vivido.

Recomendaciones Para Viajar a Ciudad Perdida:

Lleva una maleta ligera y solo lo esencial para la caminata.
No olvides protector solar, repelente de insectos y ropa cómoda.
Reserva tu tour con anticipación, ya que el acceso es limitado y obligatorio contar con guía.
