The Lost City is an ancient indigenous city that was built by the Taironas, a pre-Columbian tribe that inhabited the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a mountainous region on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, near the Guajira peninsula.
It was inhabited by Tayrona Indians for many centuries and was a sacred place for them. The Lost City is also known as “Teyuna” by the native Indians, who live in the region and consider themselves the guardians of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
