The Lost City is an ancient indigenous city that was built by the Taironas, a pre-Columbian tribe that inhabited the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a mountainous region on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, near the Guajira peninsula.
It was inhabited by Tayrona Indians for many centuries and was a sacred place for them. The Lost City is also known as “Teyuna” by the native Indians, who live in the region and consider themselves the guardians of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
If you wish to go there with indigenous guides, there are several options to consider; hire an organized tour: Many companies offer tours to the Lost City with indigenous guides. These tours usually include transportation from the starting point to the Lost City, accommodation in camps along the way and meals along the way.
Book a visit with a local indigenous community: If you want to have a more authentic experience and support the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, you can book a visit to the Lost City through a local indigenous community.
I loved it… To see a person who truly represents the cultural identity of this country 😍 To do this tour was a real adventure for me and a personal challenge, I did not think about doing it, but I always had the support of the guide and my group, excellent agency to do the tour, I recommend it with all my heart.
During the trek to Ciudad Perdida the most important thing was the indigenous connection, apart from walking the trails, meeting the indigenous people, beautiful crystalline rivers and mountains surrounded by jungle, a trip out of my imagination, I would definitely do it again, but with more friends who like adventure.
If you are a lover of Colombia, this is a place little visited by locals, but very visited by foreigners, I present the Colombian machupichu, a unique place near the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, energetically impressive place, I recommend you to visit it, it is a wonder to do so.
Everything is a set in pure state🙏🏽🙏🏽… Life and nature 🌿🍃 sometimes the images fall short, to describe what you feel, no doubt it has been and will be one of my best adventures I’ve done , I loved this tour and with this agency has been the best, I recommend doing it when you can.
Before starting this adventure I was afraid of the difficulty it could have, however, while I was walking I was thinking about my goal, which was to reach the camps, but the indigenous guide changed my way of thinking about the tour, I recommend doing it and you can learn a lot.
